Anne Mette Hjortshøj is a Danish studio potter based on the island of Bornholm, Denmark. [1] Biography Hjortshøj graduated from the Glas and Ceramic School on Bornholm in 2000 [2] before completing an 18-month apprenticeship with master potter Phil Rogers in 1998. [3] [2] Thereafter she moved back to Bornholm and set up her own pottery.

Anne Mette's studio is housed in an old 19th century farmhouse, complete with ramshackle barns and sheds, on the West coast of Bornholm, a small Danish island in the Baltic Sea just off the southern tip of Sweden.

The project consists of Iwami Shinsuke, Mashiko, Japan, Ann-Charlotte Ohlsson, Jesper L.Larsen and I, Anne Mette Hjortshøj. As an apprentice, working with Phil Rogers, it was an obvious part of daily life in the studio, to collect and test various clays, woodashes and rock to use as raw materials. I adopted this curiousity in my own work.
